The situation comedy: Peter Kay's Car Share

Sitcom: A humorous series featuring the reactions of a regular cast of characters to unusual situations, such as misunderstandings or embarrassing coincidences. These comedies are usually centered around a common environment, for example a family home or workplace.

 1. The writers of Peter Kay's Car Share is Peter Kay, Sian Gibson, Paul Coleman, Tim  Reid. It was directed by Peter Kay.

2. The scheduled broadcast for the show is 22.00 on BBC One and the running time is 30      minutes.

3. The codes and conventions of situation comedy are: Having a realistic storyline,
                                                                                        The normal 30 mins episode length,
                                                                                        The set is usually a workplace or
                                                                                        household,
                                                                                        The central characters remain the
                                                                                        same,
                                                                                        Stereotypes are recognisable and 
                                                                                        often challenged, 
                                                                                        Canned laughter is played to prompt
                                                                                        the audience to laugh.
4. The viewing figures for the show is 6.85 million people for the opening episode, with      another 2.5 million watching on iPlayer it soon became the most watched series to    premiere as a box set on the online service. 
5. Michael Hogan, for the Guardian, gave the Sitcom five stars and described it as 'very  funny and full of gentle charm'.
6. There are six available episodes in series one and the BBC are yet to make a series two.

LEIGH FRANCIS/KEITH LEMON RESEARCH TASK

Keith Lemon research: Leigh Francis, or as he's otherwise known as, Keith Lemon is a comedian who takes on the role of many different characters. He uses his character's as a vessel for his obscene and crude comedy which he has used to build his impressive career. Leigh's first appearance on television was on the TV show Bo' Selecta! where he portrayed the character Avid Merrion. Merrion always preferred the darker side of comedy and would often reference controversial topics like perversion and cancer.  However, when the show was cancelled in 2006 Francis turned to different styles of comedy other than sketch shows. He created the panel show 'Celebrity Juice' in 2008 after ITV had approached him about starting a show with his character Keith Lemon due to the popularity of the five part series 'Keith Lemon's Very Brilliant World Tour'.
